Everyone experiences insomnia at some point in their lives, particularly during anxious and stressful times. Some people suffer from insomnia and abnormal sleep patterns when there seems no apparent reason for not being able to nod off at night. In many cases, anxiety over insomnia itself causes the sufferer’s sleeplessness to worsen over time. Hypnotherapy is ideally suited to fixing insomnia as the whole basis of hypnosis is on the relaxation of the mind. The trance state induced in hypnosis is very similar to the state a person reaches just before sleep. During one of the two or three sessions it normally takes to cure insomnia, I will teach the sufferer how to hypnotise themselves at night in bed. This light self-induced hypnosis results in a deep, natural and restful sleep, without the use of sleeping pills.
